Semuliki National Park in Uganda
Semiliki National Park is located in the distant region of Bwamba County in Bundibugyo District Uganda. The Park consists of Flora and Fauna along the border of Uganda with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwenzori Mountaisn and Lake Albert.
The Park is prominently known for the Sempaya Hot springs i.e the Male and Female Hot springs where you insert your eggs and plantain and they get ready to eat.
Climate and Weather
The Park receives moderate rainfall amounts of 1,250 mm (49 in) with high volumes from the months of March to May and September to December. The temperature around the park varies from 18 to 30 °C (64 to 86 °F) with the Semuliki and Lamia Rivers.
Safari Activities to Do in the Park
Game Drives
Game Drives are the most fun safari activity carried out in the park along the various tracks on which you watch various wildlife animals wander around their natural vegetation habitat. The Wildlife animals you watch include; elephants, buffalo, waterbuck, crocodile, warthog, Uganda Kobs, pygmy hippopotami, bush babies and leopards etc.
Bird Watching
Bird watching at Semliki National Park is very exceptional to all birders’ all over the world looking for remarkable birding Adventure experiences. The park’s best birding spots i.e Sempaya, Kirumia River and Ntandi offer unique experiences and the birds that can be watched here include; the White-crested Hornbill, Red-billed Dwarf Hornbill, Piping Hornbill, Yellow-throated Nicator, Great blue and Ross’s Turacos as well as the Shoebill Stork which is seen along the shores of Lake Albert.
Hot Springs Encounter
Semuliki National Park is famously known for the Hot spring encounters it offers to all as you transfer to visit the amazing springs with plantain and eggs which you deep into the springs and when they get ready, you consume them for they are ready. En-route have views of black and white Colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked Mangabeys as well as birds.
Hiking and Nature Walks
Hiking and Nature walks are very exciting to do at Semuliki National Park along various trails which include; the 13km Kirumia Trail that goes through the center of the forest to the Semliki River for 8 hours, 11km Red Monkey Track which proceeds along the Eastern boundary of the park offering amazing views of the rare deBrazza’s monkey and ends at the Semuliki River, 8km Sempaya Nature Trail which offers you amazing views of the Sempaya Hot Springs which 2-4 hours.
Cultural Encounters
Cultural Encounters are also exceptional at Semuliki National Park as you look into the lives of the locals as you engage in Music, Dance and Drama. You also transfer to Ntandi to buy handmade crafts as well as the Boma Cultural Village. You watch the Batwa people.
