Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda
Volcanoes National Park is located in the North West of Rwanda at the border with Virunga National Park in DR Congo and Mgahinga National Park Uganda. Activities to Do in the Park
Gorilla Trekking
Gorilla Trekking is the most popular safari activity carried out in the park as many travelers visit here to trek the majestic Mountain Gorillas in their natural forest vegetation habitat. The Gorilla Trekking process requires you to transfer to the Park headquarters for briefing on the code of conduct around the Mountain Gorillas then later in groups of 8 with a park ranger guide, enter the forest to trek the Gorillas for 3-5 hours and when you meet them an hour is allowed in their presence taking photos to keep for memories.
Bird Watching
Bird Watching is very exceptional in Volcanoes National Park where you watch numerous species of birds fly around the forest vegetation. The birds you watch here include; the Red-Faced Barbet, Shoebill Stork, Bennett’s Woodpecker, Papyrus Gonolek, the Miombo Wren-Warblers, Stripe-breasted Tits, Ruwenzori Apalis, Mountain Black Boubou, Olive Woodpecker, Cinnamon Bracken Warbler.
Mountain/ Volcano Hiking
Mountain/ Volcano Hiking is very exceptional in Volcanoes National Park as you hike five out of eight volcanoes with a skilled park ranger guide. The Hikes are remarkable as they offer you amazing adventures and expeditions as well as scenic views of the green vegetation terrain, birds and calderas.
Golden Monkey Tracking
Golden Monkey Tracking is also another safari activity carried out in the Park and this requires you to transfer to the park headquarters for briefing on the code of conduct around the Golden Monkeys then later in groups with a park ranger guide transfer into the forest to track the Golden Monkeys for 2-4 hours and when you find them follow them along various trails taking numerous photos to keep for memories.
