Kibale Forest National Park in Uganda
Kibale Forest National Park is located South of Uganda covering an area of 766 square kilometres (296 sq mi) at an elevation between 1,100 metres (3,600 ft) to 1,600 metres (5,200 ft. The Park is prominently known to offer amazing Chimpanzee Tracking Tours to all travelers with 12 primates’ i.e mangabey, L’Hoest Monkeys, White and black Colobus Monkeys, blue monkeys and wildlife animals like the red and blue duikers, Bushbucks, Sitatungas, Bush pigs, Giant forest hogs, Warthogs and African buffalo.
Safari Activities to Do in Park
Chimpanzee Tracking
Chimpanzee Tracking is the most prominent safari activity carried out in the park and offers travelers the opportunity to watch the amazing Chimpanzees in their natural forest vegetation habitat. The process starts by going to the park headquarters for briefing on the code of conduct around the Chimpanzees then later in groups of 8 with a park ranger, enter the forest to track the Chimpanzees for 2-4 hours depending on their location and when you meet them, an hour is allowed in their presence taking various photos to keep for memories.
Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Other than Chimpanzee Tracking you can go for the habituation experience which offers you an opportunity to stay longer in the presence of the Chimpanzees for a full Day as you follow them from the time they wake up throughout their daily activities as they forage, breast feed, communicate, lead, patrol etc.
Nocturnal Forest Walk
While in Kibale Forest National Park, you can take on Nocturnal Forest Walks which gives you an opportunity to watch nocturnal wildlife animals like primates i.e potto, tree pangolins, bush baby and some birds. On your nocturnal walks, you transfer with a skilled park ranger guide who helps you navigate through the thick forest vegetation of Kibale Forest.
Hiking and Nature Walks
Hiking and Nature Walks are also remarkable to do in the park as you transfer with a skilled park ranger guide and en-route have views of bird species, primates i.e red monkeys blue monkeys, black and white Colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, etc.
Bird Watching
Bird watching is also exceptional in Kibale Forest National Park as you watch various birds fly around their natural forest vegetation habitat.
