Lake Manyara National Park Tanzania
Lake Manyara National Park covers an area of 530 km2 of forest, arid land, soda lake and is located in different regions i.e Manyara and Arusha of Tanzania with a narrow strip stretching in between the Gregory Rift Wall to the West and Lake Manyara a soda lake in the East. The Park include many flamingos that inhabit the shores of the lake during the wet season and are absent in the dry season. In the park are the Tree Climbing Lions and other wildlife animals like Leopards, cheetahs, elephants, blue monkeys, dik-dik, gazelles, hippopotami, Masai giraffe, impala, zebras etc.
Being located close to the Tarangire National Park, the Park can be accessed from the Babati capital of the Manyara Region.
Best Time to Visit Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park can be visited anytime around the year although the Best Time to visit the Park is during the wet season in the Months of April and May as you watch numerous species of birds that flood the shores and forest vegetation. These include; colonies of storks, pelicans, spoonbills, cormorants pink flamingos, shallows, thousands of tiny red-billed quelea weavers, herons, hornbills, shrikes, Kingfishers, colorful rollers and raptors.
The dry season is not convenient as many birds leave the Park but good for all on Game Drive in the park watching wildlife animals.
Activities to Do Around the Park
Game Drives
Game Drives are the most popular safari activity carried out in the park as you transfer to any track in the park in a 4×4 vehicle. You watch various wildlife animals like tree climbing lions, Leopards, cheetahs, elephants, blue monkeys, dik-dik, gazelles, hippopotami, Masai giraffe, impala, zebras, waterbuck, spiral-horned impala, black and white Colobus monkeys etc.
Bird Watching
Bird watching is exceptional in the Park as you watch many bird species fly around their forest habitat. The Birds you watch include; colonies of storks, pelicans, spoonbills, cormorants pink flamingos, shallows, thousands of tiny red-billed quelea weavers, herons, hornbills, shrikes, Kingfishers, colorful rollers and raptors.
