Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda
Queen Elizabeth National Park is located in the Western part of Uganda covering an area of 1,978 square kilometres (764 sq mi), stretching to districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi and Rukungiri expanding from Lake George Northe East to Lake Edward in the South West from Kampala City and Kasese Town. The Park is prominently known to offer remarkable Wildlife Safaris to all kinds of travelers from all over the world. It comprises of the Maramagambo Forest bordering the Kigezi Game Reserve, Kyambura Game Reserve and Kibale Forest National Park Uganda and Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Wildlife in the Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park inhabits various wildlife animal species that can be watched on Game Drive and these include; the BIG Five animal species i.e Buffalo, Lions, Leopards, Elephants and others like the Ugandan kob, hippopotamus, Nile crocodile and chimpanzee and 500 different bird species.
You can also watch the tree climbing lions in the Ishasha Sector relaxed in the FIG Tree branches. On a very clear day, you view the Rwenzori Mountains at a distance.
Safari Activities to do in the Park
Game Drives
Game Drives are a very exceptional safari activity carried out in the park as you transfer in a 4×4 vehicle with a skilled park ranger guide in the Kasenyi Sector watching wildlife animals like buffalo, small antelope, warthog, elephant, baboons, as well as the tree climbing lions in the Ishasha Sector.
Bot Cruises
Boat Cruises are carried out along the famous Kazinga Channel where you watch numerous wildlife animals along the shores as well as many crocodiles and schools of hippo beneath the waters. There are two sessions that is the morning that begins at 8:30 am and the afternoon session at 2:30 pm and these are chosen according to the preferences of the travelers.
Bird watching
Bird watching is also exceptional at Queen Elizabeth National Park as the park inhabits various species of birds in the woodlands, Maramagambo Forest and these include; Martial Eagle, Black-rumped Buttonquail, African Skimmer, Chapin’s Flycatcher, Pinkbacked Pelican, African Broadbill, Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, Black Bee-eater, White-tailed Lark, White-winged Warbler, Papyrus Gonolek, Papyrus Canary, Corncrake, Lesser and Greater Flamingo, Shoebill, Bar-tailed Godwit.
Chimpanzee Tracking
Chimpanzee Tracking at Queen Elizabeth National Park is also exceptional at Kyambura Gorge where you watch chimpanzees in their natural forest vegetation. The Chimpanzee Tracking process is done in two sessions that is 8:00 am and 2:00 pm for 1-3 hours taking various photos to keep for memories.
Cultural Encounters
Cultural encounters at Queen Elizabeth National Park are also exceptional as you move with a skilled guide to the Kikorongo Equator Performers where you learn about these local people and here engage in various activities like making a local Banyaruguru hut, agricultural village, visit the Kikorongo Women Community.

Queen Elizabeth National Park offers amazing Caving adventures as travelers transfer to the Bat Cave in Maramagambo Forest where you watch numerous bats, pythons and the Historic Cave at Nyanz’ibiri community known to be a place where people used to offer sacrifices cleansing Bad Omen.
