Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda
Murchison Falls National Park is located in the North Western Part of Uganda offering remarkable Wildlife Safaris to all travelers from all over the world looking to watch wildlife in their natural vegetation habitat as they transfer from one place to another. The Park covers an area of 748 square kilometres (289 sq mi) stretching to various Districts in Uganda i.e Buliisa, Nwoya, Kiryandongo, and Masindi.
The Park is prominently know for the beautiful Murchison Falls that flow from height above into a narrow gorge with a rainbow descending deep into the falls after the flowing Victoria Nile. The falls are the most magnificent safari attraction in the park.
Murchison Falls National Park is composed of the Bugungu and Karuma Wildlife Reserves with wildlife animals like elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, small antelope, Hippos, hartebeests, leopards, oribis, lions, etc.
Safari Activities to do at Murchison Falls National Park
Game Drives
Game Drives are the most popular activity to do in the park as it requires you to transfer from one place to another watching wildlife animals wander around their natural vegetation habitat like lions, giraffes, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, warthogs, bushbuck, Oribis, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Small antelope, topis, waterbucks, etc.
Bird Watching
Bird watching is also exciting to do in the Park as you watch various species of bords in the green forest vegetation and these include; African Darter, Goliath Heron, Yellow-billed Stork, Abdim’s Stork, White-faced Whistling Duck, Secretary Bird, Osprey, Dark Chanting-Goshawk, Martial Eagle, Hugli’s Francolin, Denham’s Bustard, Spotted Thick-knee, Senegal Thick-knee, Rock Pratincole, Black-headed Plover, Long-toed Plover, Black-billed Wood-Dove, Veracious Dove, Long Tailed Nightjar etc.
Boat Cruises
Murchison Falls National Park offers amazing Boat Cruises along the Victoria Nile where you watch numerous crocodiles and hippos beneath the waters. The Boat Cruises are distributed into two sessions i.e the one that starts at 8:30am (Morning session) and Afternoon Session from 2:30 pm. These are booked by the travelers interested in Boat Cruises.
Cultural Encounters
Cultural Encounters are also exciting to do at the Park as you engage in various Cultural Encounters with the local people. These include the Acholi in the North East, Alur in the North West, Banyoro in the South. You experience the local traditions and customs of the people through Music, Dance and Drama.
Hiking and Nature Walks
Murchison Falls National Park also amazing hiking and Nature Walks as you transfer with guides through the forest vegetation enjoying views of the green forest terrain, birds species, monkeys and Chimpanzees. The guided nature walks take you traversing the Kaniyo Pabidi Eco Forest and the Rabongo Forest to the Delta Area.
Sports Fishing
Sports Fishing is also exciting and this is done at the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the Falls where you might catch the Nile Perch.
